The plastic/metal composite grille opening reinforcement (GOR), made for Ford's 2000 Focus by Visteon, is molded from Bayer's Durethan BKV 30 percent glass-filled polyamide 6 resin, and two metal stampings. The hybrid metal/plastic technology produced a GOR with a 40percent saving in weight over metal with equal performance.
