“Total Solutions” for multi-layer bottles

Kortec will display “total solutions” for multi-layer carbonated soft drink (CSD) and beer packaging at this year’s K Show. The exhibit’s focus will be on Kortec’s Ultra 144 multi-layer co-injection system which incorporates a custom-built Husky co-injection machine. The Ultra 144 is currently used by a major soft drink producer and is billed as the largest production system for multi-layer PET performs.

The Ultra 144 is used to for the production of performs with neck diameters of 28 mm. The system’s 144 cavity mold is capable of producing 576 preforms per minute, which translates into as many as 288 million performs a year.

On the same machine platform, Kortec offers a system which produces preforms with up to 43 mm neck diameters.

New gating options available

Mold-Masters will introduce several new valve gating technologies at the K Show. One new innovation allows for in-mold micro adjustment of the valve pin position. The company will also introduce a new valve guidance system known as V-Guide. As well, several new gating options will be added to the Femto-Lite line. The Femto-Lite slim nozzle line provides optimal process control in the molding of engineering and commodity resins. The company will also introduce several new specialty gating options including side gating in ultra-high cavitation applications as well as hot tip systems for optimal color change.
