The exceptional hydrolytic and stress-crack resistance of VICTREX PEEK polymer makes it the material of choice for one of the world’s leading suppliers of high-quality endoscopic medical instruments. Because of these qualities, the polymer can be safely sterilized for virtually unlimited use, says Victrex USA Marketing Manager, Kevin Jennings.

“The polymer shows no tendency toward stress crack formation in typical disinfection and cleaning agents, even under load, or after repeated steam sterilization–this can never be fully ruled out with amorphous high-performance polymers,” he adds.

In addition, PEEK polymer’s high strength was essential to designing a surgical instrument that could be easily disassembled for cleaning. High strength also provides precise rinse and suction control by means of a lever used for flow cutoff. In addition, the modular design allows users to employ a variety of different instruments for minimal invasive surgery.
