Four stadium escalators in the ArenaA in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, are showcasing a Lexan Solar Control IR polycarbonate (PC) sheet from GE Advanced Materials’ Specialty Film and Sheet division. The escalators leading to the ArenA are designed to handle large crowds, which commonly lead to uncomfortable temperatures within the enclosures.

The ArenA deployed the Lexan Solar Control IR sheet because it absorbs infrared and near-infrared radiation and reduces interior heat build-up by up to 40 per cent. Additionally, the Lexan Solar Control IR (PC) sheet offers up to 60 per cent more visible light transmission than other plastics-based infrared absorbent glazing products, according to GE.

Capable of being cold formed and/or thermoformed without losing impact or weathering properties, the Lexan Solar Control IR sheet is offered in standard gauges and dimensions.
