Robert Schad, founder and former president and CEO of Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd., in Bolton, Ont., will be the first Canadian ever inducted into the Plastics Hall of Fame.

The ceremony will take place on June 19, 2006, during the National Plastics Exposition (NPE) in Chicago, Ill.

Schad started Husky in a garage in Toronto in 1953 and built the company up to its current position as a global supplier of injection molding equipment that now boasts 3,000 employees and sales in 2005 of US$860 million. Husky is headquartered in Bolton, Ont., with facilities in Milton, Ont., Luxembourg, and Shanghai.

Schad retired from Husky in 2005, and was succeeded as president and CEO by John Galt, formerly Husky’s vice-president, operations and chief operating officer, last September.
