DSM Engineering Plastics’ Stanyl TW200F3, a 4/6 nylon, has been chosen to replace cast aluminum in the oil reservoir on the 2002 Polaris Industries series of all terrain vehicles (ATVs). Replacing aluminum with Stanyl resulted in a cost savings and a 51% weight reduction, as well as better performance-to-cost ratio in hot-oil applications over competing materials, according to Jeremy Smith, Polaris project engineer.

The Stanyl grade used offers high impact resistance and higher property retention after 5,000 hours of exposure to hot oil and thermal cycling.
