Canadian Tire is now carrying Dutch Boy interior latex paint packaged in an all plastic extrusion blow molded container. Dutch Boy is revealing little about the manufacture of the container, but it appears to be a four-part construction: the blow molded 3.78 L HDPE jar with integral handle; a one-piece molded handle that fits around the neck and bends up for carrying; an injection molded insert in the neck that functions as a spout; and a large screw-on lid.

Dutch Boy is emphasizing the ease-of-use of the new package. It needs no tools to open, minimizes spilling and drips, and is a convenient square shape.

“We tested numerous package designs with consumers, and incorporated all these features to make the painting process easier and less messy,” says Tim Fujita, marketing manager, Dutch Boy Paint Canada.
