The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) has appointed Gene Sanders as vice president of trade shows. Sanders replaces Walt Bishop, who is now vice president of SPI's Equipment Council.

Cambridge, Ont.-based automation manufacturer ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. has named James Rowan as president and COO of its Automation Systems Group (ASG), effective Sept. 11, 2007. The company has also appointed ATS veteran Bruce Seeley to the newly-created role of ASG president, Europe and Asia.

Pittsburg, Pa.-based resin supplier Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) has made a series of appointments. Don Hummel has been named head of BMS Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants (CAS) global product management; John Houston has been appointed head of BMS CAS marketing/business development in the NAFTA region; and Haakan Jonsson has been named to lead BMS NAFTA regional service centre.

Wood-plastic composite manufacturer JER Envirotech International, headquartered in Vancouver, has appointed William (Bill) Anderson as vice president of manufacturing.
