Jerry Zaichkowski, president and owner of Plastisonics Equipment Ltd. (Brampton, ON), died on November 6 after a battle with cancer. Jerry, who was well-known in Canada’s plastics industry as an expert in assembly and bonding equipment, founded Plastisonics in 1978.

Shuman Plastics Inc., maker of Dyna-Purge purging compound, has made some changes among its executives. Charles Shuman, formerly president, is now chairman. Kenneth Shuman takes over as president, and Daniel Shuman becomes executive vice-president. Based in Buffalo, NY, Shuman Plastics also supplies compounds and resins.

Randy Shermet has been appointed president and CEO, Arkema Canada Inc., effective January 1, 2005. Shermet has held management positions in the company since 1988. Arkema Inc. is the recently restructured intermediate chemicals branch of Atofina SA. Current president Bob Miller is retiring after 34 years with the company.
