Engel North America has announced that Franz Strohmaier is returning to the company in the capacity of executive vice-president of engineering and operations. Strohmaier began his career in the area of design and product development at Engel’s Austrian facility in 1972. He transferred to Engel Canada division in 1977, eventually assuming the position of vice president of engineering and advanced technologies. In 2001 Strohmaier left Engel to take a position with blow molding machinery manufacturer Bekum America Corp.

Injection molder Horn Plastics Inc. (Whitby, ON) has recently hired Michael Newman as its sales manager. Newman is a recipient of the Society of Plastics Engineers’ Honored Service award and three-time past president of the Ontario section of the SPE.

Bob Fitz has been appointed vice-president, information technology, at Canada-IntraPac (Don Mills, ON). Fitz will be responsible for all IT activity at IntraPac business units. IntraPac is a supplier of a variety of plastic packaging with three manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and one in Costa Rica.

The longest serving employee at Accurate Mould Company Ltd., mold maker Ron Kicul, is retiring after 44 years of service. Kicul hired in as an apprentice with Accurate in 1960. Kicul personally built over 150 molds during his time with the Rexdale, ON-based company. He primarily built molds for the toy industry, as well as molds for large automotive applications.
