A stiff, 30 in. long rocker cover produced from glass-fibre and mineral reinforced Technyl polyamide is a major contributor to the extraordinarily quiet Duetz utility truck engine. The grade, Technyl A 218 MT15V25, is a 15% mineral and 25% glass-fibre, reinforced nylon that combines high stiffness with low values for shrinkage and warpage, as well as isotropic shrinkage behavior. The material also provides a low creep tendency, which contributes to a long service life for the gasket on the rocker cover.

The inside of the cover contains significant stiffening features. The rib structure minimizes the resonance behavior and the sound emission, especially in the frequency range of 0.6 to 2 kHz.
