Husky Injection Molding Systems has introduced a nozzle tip that yields a part with improved surface finish and a uniform color gradient, even when molding demanding metallic and platelet-filled resins. The new tip, called UltraFlow, prevents weld and flow lines that originate in the runner system by thoroughly mixing the resin using its interior helical grooves. These grooves mix the resins in a manner that encourages uniform blending in the melt stream, and even dispersion in the part cavity.

In a recent cosmetic cap application using SAN resin with a 10 percent metallic mix, the tip produced parts of uniform color distribution with no perceptible flow lines.
