Micromolding attracts attention

Arburg displayed a wide range of injection molding technologies at its Technology Days open house in Germany last spring. Attendees showed strong interest in in the ALLROUNDER 170 U, Arburg’s new micro injection molding machine. More than 40 exhibits covered multi-component injection molding, encapsulation of inserts, processing of liquid silicone rubber, metal and ceramic injection molding, micro injection molding, water injection technology, the MuCell process and manufacturing of PET preforms and optical disks. More than 100 visitors from North America attended the event.

Vacuum loader can handle more machines, more throughput

Maguire has enhanced the capabilities of its Clear-Vu portable vacuum conveying systems to function as a “mini” central materials handling system, and increased the throughput capacity of these units.

The number of stations that can be loaded by a single unit continues to be eight, but through linking of controllers in series it is now possible to extend automated loading capability to 24 or more stations.

“Clear-Vu loaders provide a more affordable and easier to use alternative to conventional systems for loading multiple processing lines,” says Patrick B. Smith, vice-president of sales and marketing. “At the same time, it is more flexibly deployed than standard automated conveying systems.”

Maguire has doubled the blower horsepower of each Clear-Vu loader from five to ten, thereby increasing throughput from 420 to 1400 kg/hr over a distance of 120 m. As well, a 10-kg material receiver is now available.

Modular large IMMs

Two large tonnage models have been added to the Battenfeld TM line of toggle injection molding machines. The TM 5500 and the TM 6500 have, respectively, 5500 and 6500 kN of clamping force.

Like all TM units, they are modular, available with a choice of three injection units and screw diameters ranging from 65 to 120 mm.

The TM design has a sturdy, rigid machine body, optimized force transmission to the mold, and high-precision closing strokes.
