Medical and food-contact applications will receive a boost in performance from a new line of flexible vinyl compounds produced by Teknor Apex.

An advanced heat stabilizer package for clear compounds can enable medical device manufacturers to increase throughput beyond rates achievable with conventional vinyl while yielding products with equivalent or better resistance to gamma radiation. The new stabilizer packages effectively end the trade-off between increased heat stability and decreased gamma resistance.

The Apex 94-A0644 series is a family of low-taste and low-odor compounds for foamed and unfoamed liners in bottle crowns, the pry- or twist-off caps on beer containers. The Apex 98-A0292B series for beverage dispenser tubing offer taste and odor properties that exceed those needed to pass the tests required for NSF 51 certification.

New self-frosting compounds in the Apex G series enable medical tubing manufacturers to bypass the need for air rings to eliminate tackiness, which causes tubing products to stick together during coiling or stacking.
