New Solid Silicone Masterbatch for Styrenic Resin Systems

Dow Corning Corp. has introduced a new silicone additive in a dry masterbatch pellet form designed for use in a range of styrene-based resin systems. Dow Corning MB50-008 Silicone Masterbatch is a 50 percent dispersion of an ultra-high molecular weight silicone in styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) resin. The resin has a melt flow index of eight. At concentrate levels of 0.2 to 2.0 percent in styrene-based systems, the product offers improved processing and resin flow characteristics. At higher loadings, MB50-008 can improve the surface properties of SAN, ABS, and other styrenic resins.
