Dow Performance Foams announces the availability of QUASH bD1 Sound Management Foam, a novel polyolefin foam for industrial, residential and automotive sound-dampening applications. The foam offers optimum noise reduction and sound insulation properties and, according to the company, is superior to other acoustical materials because it is produced with a proprietary blend of polyethylene and Dow’s INDEX Interpolymers.
Dow says the interpolymers, made via Dow’s INSITE catalysis process, enable more accurate control of foam cell size and density, which optimizes the acoustical properties of the foam. QUASH dB1 Sound Management Foam displayed a sound absorption coefficient of 0.77 at 500 Hz when tested to ASTM E1050 at a thickness of only 35 mm.
