Sigma Stretch Film Corp. has opened a new stretch film operation in Belleville, Ont. The 50,200 sq. ft. manufacturing plant is capable of producing up to 35 million pounds of industrial stretch film annually. The plant, the company’s fifth North American facility, uses Battenfeld Gloucester equipment to manufacture both blown and cast film. The plant can make nine-layer stretch film, affording the company the opportunity to produce a host of new products, according to president of Canadian operations, Per Nylen. Sigma Stretch is owned by Sigma Plastics Group based in Lyndhurst, NJ. The company had sales of approximately $720 million in 1999.
