Montreal-based Mega Bloks Inc. has announced a 43% increase in net earnings during 2003, delivering plastic construction toys to buyers in more than 100 countries. Net earnings for the year reached US$28.8 million, compared to US$20.2 million in 2002.

“We are very pleased with our fourth quarter numbers and the growth of our brand, allowing Mega Bloks to post another year of record results, outpacing the overall toy industry,” said president and CEO Marc Bertrand. “We are well-positioned to sustain our strong performance in 2004.”

Net sales for the year increased 16% to US$219.7 million, compared to US$188.8 million in 2002. In North America, the net sales were up 4% to US$138 million, while international sales were up 44% to US$81.7 million. The company employs more than 1,000 people.
