Injection molders can reduce cycle times and improve efficiency when injection molding intricate thin-wall parts and parts molded in multi-cavity tools using CYRO Industries’ CYROLITE Med, CYROLITE CG-97 and CYREX 200-8005 products, says the manufacturer.
These rigid, easy-to-mold acrylic-based compounds are said to deliver the same structural integrity as other transparent plastics, but at a thinner gauge.
These CYROLITE grades have excellent processability at lower temperatures and are readily adaptable for tooling designed for styrene, vinyl, ABS and polycarbonate.
CYROLITE Med is suitable for disposable medical devices requiring maximum chemical resistance to isopropanols and lipids.

Low VOC polyol process
For flexible slabstock and molded foam products, Dow Chemical has developed a low volatile organic compound (VOC) copolymer polyol process that addresses customer needs for reduced levels of styrene monomer.
Voralux HL400 and Specflex NC700 polyols from Dow are now produced with a residual styrene monomer specification of less than 20 ppm.
The new copolymer polyol chemistry was commercialized in February 2001 at the company’s Freeport, TX site, and is currently available to North American customers.
