Two new flame retardant grades of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers from BASF are highly processable, and provide cable manufacturers the best combination of flame resistance and mechanical properties of any commercial polyurethane, according to the manufacturer.
Applied Taber measurements show that BASF’s halogen flame-retardant polyether based TPU, Elastollan 1185A10F, has 30 to 40 percent better abrasion resistance than competitive grades. The other new grade is a halogen-free polyether-based TPU, Elastollan 1185A10FHF.
