Milacron Plastics Technologies has integrated Moldflow MPX software with its patented PC-based XTREEM control, a move it says will provide the methodology to close the loop between design and manufacturing. The MPX suite is available as an option on the XTREEM control and can be ordered pre-installed on new orders for all Feromatik Milacron North America injection molding machine lines.
According to Ron Sparer, controls design manager for Milacron, MPX is especially effective in helping inexperienced operators set up and optimize the injection molding process for fewer rejects, higher part quality and greater productivity per machine.
The software is composed of three modules. Setup Xpert guides operators through set-up; Optimize Xpert automates the “design of experiment” phase to rapidly achieve a robust process; and Production Xpert actively controls production by automatically applying adjustments to changes in process variables.
