Wella Corp. was the first to take advantage of CCL’s exclusive Soft-Touch plastic tube process. The proprietary two-layer manufacturing process developed by CCL consists of an inner layer of polyethylene with a thermoplastic polyolefin top layer.
A Wella spokesman states, “We definitely wanted to take advantage of CCL’s unique Soft-Touch tube which has a luxurious, warm and sensual feel that gives the package decidely upscale and higher-quality characteristics, greatly enhancing its consumer appeal.” The tubes also have a no-slip surface that is easier to handle with wet hands.
The co-extruded material meets FDA criteria for most cosmetic and personal care products, can be decorated by most existing processes, and can be clear, translucent, white or colored.
