Disposable transfer pipettes for laboratory use are often used for hours on end to transfer precise quantities of fluids. The right degree of flexibility for a comfortable grip must be combined with adequate stiffness. California-based Samco Scientific chose Eastman Tenite E6838-796F low-density polyethylene (LDPE) for its line of disposable pipettes. The Tenite material has a melt index high enough to withstand high speed extrusion blow molding, while crystallizing less than many competing formulations. The material’s high melt index lot-to-lot consistency allows faster, easier processing.
