Saint-Damien, Quebec-based IPL Inc. has acquired its first-ever contract for the design and manufacture of automotive window frames for a U.S.-based Tier 1 supplier. The window frames will be used in an automotive OEM’s light truck line and will be produced using a multi-shot injection molding process. IPL is the first plastics manufacturer to produce automotive window frames using the process, which saves two steps and reduces production costs. The order is worth approximately $2 million per year over five years. IPL says it is expecting additional orders for similar applications by the end of the year.
