The KM 380-1400/1400 CW SpinForm swivel-platen machine from KraussMaffei is an innovative system for high-performance multi-component molding.
Engineered to achieve cycle times of less than 10 seconds, the SpinForm offers advantages over other multicomponent concepts.
The second injection unit is sited in the machine’s central axis, behind the moving platen. In the low and medium clamp force range, this siting of the second injection unit is only possible with the two-platen clamp unit of KraussMaffei C and CX machines, because these machines have no clamping mechanism behind the moving platen. This straightforward machine design means that the masses being moved are relatively small. This improves the dynamics, the precision and the energy efficiency of the machine. The weight of the mold is borne by the sliding-swivel unit, with no load on the tiebars. The swivel unit is driven by a servomotor, making it independent of the machine hydraulics.
The mold zone of a SpinForm machine is freely accessible from the operator side, from the non-operator side and from above. This simplifies automation and mold changing. Using an adapter plate for media distribution makes installing and removing molds.
In contrast to other multi-component machines, the melt in the hot runner on a SpinForm machine takes a straight route with no diversions. As a result the cavities are filled more smoothly and uniformly. In addition, shear and pressure losses in the hot runner are reduced.
