Inline Fiberglass Ltd. has signed a licensing agreement that will allow it to use Dow Plastics’ proprietary pultrusion process technology for the production of continuous fibre thermoplastic composites. Dow says its Fulcrum technology, based on the company’s line of Isoplast engineering thermoplastic polyurethanes, is capable of producing pultruded profiles with many times the strength of other thermoplastics. The technology is purported to overcome the limitations of poor fibre impregnation and poor fibre adhesion that have plagued the manufacture of other thermoplastic composites. Inline is planning on using the technology to develop new lines of window profiles, door frames and other products.
