Husky Injection Molding Systems has introduced a 250-ton (225-tonne) version of its Hylectric injection molding machine, targeting such demanding applications as thinwall packaging, medical, cell phone, pail and closure applications.

The model H225 features an electric screw drive for increased energy efficiency and a hydro-mechanical clamp for maximum performance. It’s available with reciprocating screw injection units ranging from 32 mm to 80 mm screw diameters, injection pressures from 23,500 to 36,000 psi and injection rates with linear speeds up to 59 in/s. The water-cooled motor and enclosed power pack ensure quiet operation below 75dBA. The design of the injection unit uses fewer moving parts for simpler operation and reduced maintenance.

The hydro-mechanical clamp offers short cycles and superior mold protection. Centralized force application through the centre column and the patented stationary Reflex platen ensure even load distribution and excellent platen parallelism resulting in significantly lower locking pressures. The large tiebar spacing of 26 x 26 in. allows larger molds to be installed and operated in the H225 machine.
