Van Dorn Demag’s two-platen Calibre Series injection molding machines are well known to users of large machines (1000 tons and up). Now the company is bringing the two-platen technology to smaller machines. A 500-ton model has been introduced, with 700- and 950-ton models anticipated.
The Calibre two-platen clamp design typically reduces floor space requirements by 25%. A large platen area increases the amount of molding capacity available in a smaller machine. In addition, the Calibre Model 500 uses only about one-third as much hydraulic oil as hydraulic machines of the past. The overall hydraulic system has been simplified, with fewer parts and a fast, efficient pump system.

Portable chillers have smaller footprint
QPC Systems Inc. is expanding its line of water and air condensing chillers. The new models will have a smaller footprint than existing models, and range from one ton to 40 tons in capacity.
A standard feature on all QPC portable chillers is hot gas bypass, which allows the compressor to operate in an unloaded condition when set point temperature is reached, resulting in tighter control, less power consumption, longer compressor life. All units are built using non-ferrous piping, stainless steel pump and insulated reservoir tank.
