“The Van Dorn Demag IntElect Series really lets molders hit the ground running,” says Bill Carteaux, vice president of sales and marketing for Van Dorn Demag. The IntElect machines use proven technology — toggle clamps, belt and ball screw technology, and Van Dorn’s reliable, efficient Pathfinder controller.

The five point toggle provides smooth clamp operation, a smaller footprint and reduced platen deflection. An AC servo motor runs the clamp, while another AC servo motor and belt and ball screw drive train actuates the ejectors.

In the injection unit, one AC servo motor is used for injection boost and another for screw rotation. This eliminates the need to synchronize dual drives on one axis and allows for better control of back pressure.

For molding flexibility, Van Dorn Demag reports that a complete changeover of screw and barrel can be completed in 20 minutes. The machine offers automatic barrel identification, so the control system recognizes the barrel and automatically calibrates the screens. Plug-in heater bands also facilitate quicker changes.
