D-M-E has introduced its new Stellar hot runner system in response to demand for hot runner systems with small part and micromolding applications. Designed for use in mold bases with center-to-center distances as tight as 17 mm, the external heated Stellar hot runner system works well with either commodity or engineering grade resins for use in electrical, electronic, medical and cosmetic packaging.

Stellar nozzles feature a front-loaded design for the tips, tip retainers, heaters, thermocouples and heaters. This front load capability maximizes uptime by enabling quick access with the mold in the press. Two interchangeable nozzle tips are available: a point gate and a sprue gate. High reliability and longevity are ensured with mini-tubular nozzle heaters, thereby reducing maintenance costs.

The modular nozzle bodies are interchangeable and can be attached to a manifold by either threaded or compression connections. Standardized multi-nozzle assemblies accept threaded nozzles. Custom applications use compression-style nozzle connections. Seven nozzle “A” dimensions are available from 45 to 105 mm. By substituting the nozzle head, a 10 mm adjustment can be made to the nozzle “A” dimension, increasing flexibility and cost savings.
