The best of both worlds for injection molders — process efficiency with high-impact strength in finished products — is achieved by a new polystyrene grade from BASF.

BASF’s 473D is a high-flow HIPS with a superior balance of flow characteristics, along with overall toughness. It is formulated to achieve enhanced corner strength, which is a critical measure of toughness and durability. The material is suitable for a wide variety of applications, including consumer electronics, office equipment, magnetic/optical media, housewares, building and construction, furniture and furnishings, recreation equipment, personal care products and packaging.

The BASF styrenics injection molding portfolio will be further expanded in North America with plans to launch later this year Avantra 594E, a new super high-impact polystyrene resin that combines process efficiency and toughness with high gloss.
