Plasmetech, Inc.’s V55-GKM Low Pressure Plasma System is now available with a rotary drum feature for high-volume treatment of bulk polymer parts. The V55-GKM was designed for surface modification of polymers to increase adhesion properties prior to bonding, printing, coating or painting. Alternate treatments include plasma thin-film coatings (barrier, lubricious or primer) and ultra-pure cleaning. Other materials that can be treated include metals, ceramics and glass.
Rotation of the drum within the process chamber assures uniform treatment of thousands of parts. The drum device is easily removed, allowing the 16 in. x 14 in. x 18 in. chamber to be used for processing larger parts. Microprocessor control provides consistent processing run-after-run by utilizing stored recipes and automatic process monitoring. Plasma generation via microwave excitation permits the entire chamber to be utilized since there are no internal electrodes or feed-throughs required. Another advantage to microwave-generated plasma is lower processing temperature, resulting in the ability to treat even very heat-sensitive parts.
