Pavarini Pumps, an Italian manufacturer of high pressure cleaning pumps, turned to LNP Engineering Plastics’ Verton RF, a long glass-fibre reinforced nylon 6/6 composite, to make various pump components. Prior to switching to Verton RF composites, Pavarini Pumps tested several reinforced engineering polymers, however the materials could not achieve the required burst pressures.

According to Matt Miklos, Verton product marketing manager, “By switching to Verton RF composites, the company achieved equal performance at greatly reduced cost.” Miklos reports a lower reject rate and less maintenance, as well as reduced component weight, contributed to the cost savings.

Verton RF composite-made pump components passed test pressures of 3625 psi, which is far in excess of the operating pressure, Miklos notes.
