“Our customers expressed a need for a clear resin that was chemical resistant and easy to process,” says Doris Hobbs, business market manager, Eastman Chemical. “With DuraStar polymers, molders get a very forgiving material that offers the advantage of fast cycle times, minimal drying and little retooling.”

DuraStar resins offer a wide processing window with good flow when filling even intricate molds. One series of DuraStar polymers is designed for molding heavy-wall sections, and another series provides greater impact resistance.

The natural resins are water clear, but they can be tinted or colored, and are available with or without mold release.

The new materials provide the balance of characteristics needed for a wide range of demanding applications, including: pens and stationery supplies; displays; appliances; general consumer articles; toys; and sporting goods.
