The world’s largest manufacturer of injection molding machines, Haitian Machinery, has introduced its first machine specially designed for the North American market.

A 280-tonne version of the machine was on display at the Plast-Ex show in Toronto.

According to Kingsley Qi Qin, president and CEO of Haitian (pronounced “high-ten”), this line of machine was designed for Canada. The product line includes machines from 86 to 1000 tonnes.

The control system, platen and other components are designed to meet local production needs. Components are standard in North America and readily available from inventory.

Qi Qin describes the machine as a good general-purpose unit that is being sold at a very competitive price. He says the company will offer customers a chance to test molds at its test facility in Mississauga, ON.

Haitian, through its Canadian subsidiary, is planning to start manufacturing machines in Canada later this year or early next year.

Last year Haitian sold over 5500 machines, primarily in Asia and Europe.
