Oxygen Sensor Indicator (OSI) technology for testing food packages has been awarded a patent. The technology was developed by Dr. Lindsay Mulholland and his team at the Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC), Guelph, ON.

“We are proud to be able to offer this technology to help the food industry and related sectors in evaluating the various packaging options available to them,” said Terry Maurice, GFTC’s president and CEO.

OSI uses color change to show how much oxygen is getting into a package, and where it is getting in. It can be used in either liquid or gelled form.
