A key to the marketing strategy for Glade Candy Company’s Gold Edition Taff is Triophane, the multi-layer film used to wrap individual candies. Glade uses a metallized version of the film in brown and gold, and blue and gold, to provide aesthetic appeal for the target adult market.

“Our metallization process provides marketing appeal and barrier, while Phillips’ K-Resin styrene butadiene copolymer is the key for machinability,” explains David Von Huben, vice- president of sales and marketing at Multifilm Packaging Corp. (Elgin, IL), which developed the Triophane film.

“The K-Resin provides more deadfold to keep the twist sealed, and our proprietary coatings provide a release barrier so the taffy doesn’t stick to the wrapper.”
