One of North America’s largest pipe systems companies, Toronto-based IPEX Inc., has been acquired by Glynwed International of England. Shareholders approved the purchase of IPEX from equity owners Ivaco Inc. and Scepter Holdings Inc. in a deal that will see Ivaco take its proceeds in cash, while Scepter, led by IPEX CEO Tom Torokvei, will receive a combination of cash and shares that will make Scepter the fourth largest shareholder in Glynwed.
Formed in 1954, IPEX is the largest manufacturer of plastic pipe and fittings in Canada with approximately 1500 employees in 14 manufacturing sites and 13 distribution centres across Canada.
