Firm Aims to Help Plastics Companies Develop Ideas

Velocity Product Solutions Inc. has launched a new strategic focus directed to helping plastics processors get ideas off the drawing board and into the market. Velocity is a product development, marketing and manufacturing consulting company founded last year. Corbee Dutchburn, partner at Velocity, says time constraints and production issues faced by top managers often inhibit innovation at plastics manufacturers.

“Most people in the plastics industry are too busy doing day-to-day tasks to do the research needed for product development,” says Dutchburn. “As a result a lot of good ideas die on the vine.”

Dutchburn claims over 17 years experience in industrial product design and mechanical/manufacturing engineering, including stints at Accord Plastics and Teknion Furniture Systems. Fellow partner Lyle Goodis has over 22 years experience in marketing and communications for a variety of industries.

Dutchburn says Velocity (Toronto, ON) will help a company do a patent search, as well as develop product design, manufacturing and marketing strategies. It is currently working with a number of customers on projects that cannot be disclosed.

“People have told us ‘there’s no one out there doing what you do'”, says Dutchburn.
