Fire Destroys Dyne-A-Pak Packaging Plant in Laval

A substantial fire that broke out in the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 25, destroyed a Dyne-A-Pak manufacturing operation in Laval, QC. The plant produced foamed food packaging trays.
A substantial fire that broke out in the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 25, destroyed a Dyne-A-Pak manufacturing operation in Laval, QC. The plant produced foamed food packaging trays.
The fire started at about 4:30 a.m. among foam bales and spread quickly to the second floor of the large plant. Four employees working at the time were not harmed. They alerted the Laval fire department, which subsequently called on the Montreal fire department because of the magnitude of the blaze.
A large dark cloud of smoke was visible from Laval and Montreal. No toxic chemicals were involved; however it took 2 hours to put out the fire. One fireman was injured during the operation.
The flames did not reach Dyne-A-Pak’s warehouse. Dyne-A-Pak management is taking steps to continue to supply customers and plans to rebuild as soon as possible. Damages have not yet been estimated.
