American Maplan Corp. has introduced a hybrid extrusion system geared especially for the manufacturing of PVC fence profiles. The system, which was launched in conjunction with this year’s K Show, was designed and built in response to high market demand. In North America the market for PVC fence profiles is expected to grow at an annual rate of 30 percent over the next decade.

The system is designed to be a cost-efficient alternative to conventional systems. A special co-extrusion feed block allows the operation of only one co-extruder in lieu of the two co-extruders normally required for the typical fence profile construction. The system also accommodates quick die change-overs. Additionally, the extruder requires less floor space and offers an integrated wall-thickness adjustment system which ensures consistent quality. The line is capable of producing fence profiles at an output rate of up to 600 kg/hr. If a twin-orifice extrusion line is used, this output rate can be doubled.
