Gusmer-Admiral Inc. has developed a new line of recirculating mixheads for spraying polyurethane in RIM applications. The RIMSpray Mixheads are designed specifically for open-pour and apply a very wide coverage path instead of the narrow pour stream common to a standard open-pour mixhead; for example, compare 48 in. for the RIMSpray Mixhead versus 1 in. for a standard mixhead. This fan-like dispersal of polyurethane greatly reduces the number of times the head must pass over a mold to complete the pour. The new mix heads produce a much more even application of polyurethane to the mold surfaces, with precise control of over spray.
