American Maplan and Battenfeld have developed the BEX 2-54 C conical extruder which combines high output with excellent homogenisation and melt properties. The unit is recommended for the 20 to 140 kg/h range, and is also available as a co-extruder.
A special feature of these extruders is the active-conical flight depth. The screw’s flight depth has been reduced in the feed zone and increased in the discharge zone. This leads to an increase in throughput without changing the pitch of the screw. It allows equal output at reduced screw speed, which, in turn, lengthens the service life of the screw. Friction is also reduced, which improves the possibilities of extrudate melt temperature control.
