Coming soon: space draw for NPE 2003

Preparations for NPE 2003 are about to kick into high gear. The drawing for exhibit space takes place March 5-7, 2002 in Chicago. Companies that plan to exhibit at the show but have not yet received the Exhibitor Prospectus should contact show management as soon as possible. The deadline to apply for the space draw is Feb. 22. To obtain a prospectus, contact the show managers, Hall-Erickson, at 630-434-7779.

NPE 2003 will take place June 23 to 27 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

Expand your injection molding knowledge

Two events planned for this spring in Toronto will give injection molders a chance to expand their knowledge of this field.

A one-day workshop touching on the theory, operating principles and troubleshooting of injection molding operations will be held March 21 in Toronto. The event is sponsored by the SPE Ontario Section.

In May, the third International Thixomolding Magnesium Conference will be held in Toronto. Running from May 22 to 24, the event is co-hosted by Thixomat Inc. (Ann Arbor, MI) and Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. (Bolton, ON).

Thixomolding is the injection molding of magnesium and zinc alloys using a process similar to thermoplastic injection molding. The process, which can produce complex shaped parts, has gained acceptance in the production of cell phones, computers, cameras and other industrial and consumer products.

At the conference, Husky will introduce a new 500-ton press designed for Thixomolding.
