Industry leviathan Dow Chemical Company has decided to pack some resin — among other processes by launching a new business unit called Concepture. The unit will provide concept through manufacturing of large subassemblies, targeted initially at the large appliance market. Manufacturing and assembly will be provided by Derby Industries Inc. (Louisville, KY), who will also support logistics for just-in-time delivery to Concepture customers. Concepture will operate as an unbiased, independent business unit and will manufacture or purchase components as necessary, declares Dow in a prepared statement. The first subassemblies are expected to be ready for shipping within a year.
