CPIA names new director in Ontario (June 01, 2005)

The Canadian Plastics Industry Association has named Atul Sharma (above), a veteran of public and industrial policy, as its new executive director of the Ontario region. Sharma will be leaving his current position as senior policy advisor to the Chair of Management Board of Cabinet in the Ontario government and commence his new position with CPIA in June.

Sharma holds an M.A. in economics from the University of Ottawa. In addition to his many years of public policy work, he previously served as vice president of Policy Development and chief economist for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.

“Atul is the right fit for CPIA Ontario,” said CPIA president Serge Lavoie. “He has a sound knowledge of public policy development in Ontario as well as a good sense of what businesses need in order to succeed in this province.”
