Plastics processors continue to be well-represented on Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies list. CPI Plastics Group Ltd. (Mississagua, ON) and Cousins-Currie Inc. (Toronto) were among the winners of this national award for 2004. The award program recognizes businesses from a wide range of industries that have implemented world-class best practices.

Among the previous winners who requalified in 2004 are: building products manufacturer Brite Manufacturing Inc.; Coast Spas Manufacturing Inc.; injection molder Injectech Industries Inc.; automotive molder Polymer Technologies Inc.; and reinforced plastics processor ZCL Composites Inc.

Peter Clark, CEO of CPI, says “CPI’s recognition as one of Canada’s 50 Best is attributable to our ability to manage in a very challenging environment. Controlled growth strategies, meaningful customer relationships, prudent risk management practices, and product innovation were all the hallmarks of our performance in 2004.” CPI produces decking and fencing systems, spa cladding, garbage and refuse bags, and custom profiles.

At blow molder Cousin-Currie, president and CEO Sean Seawright credits his management team and staff for achieving the 50 Best award. “This would not be possible if not for the team-based culture, and the effort of each and every one of the people that make our company successful.” Cousins-Currie is one of the largest manufacturers of plastic containers in Canada.
