Bekaert’s Dylyn/DLC coatings have been shown to reduce mold maintenance without lubricants. In a recent test, the coating was applied to ejector pins in a mold used to make the front-sides of cell phones. The manufacturer found that switching to the coating technology reduced downtime for cleaning maintenance from once every 35,000 shots to once every 150,000 shots. Plastic part rejection due to lubrication contamination was also greatly reduced.
