Chemical Suppliers Merge

Specialty chemicals producers Crompton and Knowles Corporation and Witco Corporation have announced a stock-for-stock swap which will merge the two companies as equals.

The combined company will trade as C & K Witco, and will carry a total capitalization of approximately $US 3.9 billion. The firm will be headquartered in Connecticut, and will have approximately 10,000 employees.
