Even Mother Nature would be hard pressed to distinguish real wood from ENDUR-All Technologies Inc.’s (ETI) Ce-Dur Shakes made with polyurethane (PU) raw materials.

Although they boast the attractive appearance of cedar, the Ce-Dur shakes last longer and are more durable than natural cedar wood shakes for roofing applications.

“The wood shake is becoming an unacceptable product for roofing due almost exclusively to its performance shortcomings,” explained Terry Lawson, ETI’s chairman and COE, based in Denver, Colo.

Reaction injection molded using a combination of Bayer MaterialScience’s PU raw materials and some of ETI’s proprietary polymer technology, Ce-DUR shakes have Class A fire-resistance, 100 mph wind certification, UV resistance and are impervious to freeze/thaw effects. They are also are lightweight even when wet and have excellent impact resistance.

And, Ce-Dur shakes can be installed the same way as wood shakes, through hand nailing, power nailing or power stapling, making them easy for contractors to use.
